This would usually be done at the early stages of his "return to play" phase of rehab. When the injury itself has gone through a significant stage of healing and he can work on sport-specific movements to return to the level of fitness he was at prior to the injury. This not only involves lightly working structures within his anatomy but also works on neurological aspects of his performance such as his motor skills.
