Youth Football "4-4-2" Cool Down Sequence

Cool downs are often skipped especially at grassroots level. Whilst working at Cambridge United Football Club as an academy strength and conditioning coach (for Pro Football Support) I designed this cool down in a way that gets the younger players to remember it - by relating the design of it to football.

The cool down sequence consists of 4 floor based stretches, 4 standing stretches and 2 upper body stretches. This sequence covers all the main muscle groups. I got different players to lead the cool down each session so that when it came to match day they had all learnt it and were actually cooling down after a game!
